Winston Liquid-Liquid coalescers can separate any two immiscible liquids. Mixtures such as carried-over caustic in a refinery fuel treating process, water from jet fuel, lube oil from ammonia, hydrocarbon condensate from water, carried-over amine from an amine contactor, oil from water or water from oil can be separated to less than 10 parts per million (of the effluent carry-over).
Separation is achieved through the use of knitted wire mesh, coalescing cartridges, separator cartridges, or a combination.

Vertical two-stage coalescer/separator with flow passing through one or more coalescing cartridges, then through one or more separator cartridges. Aqueous particles will be coalesced in the first stage, any aqueous particles which do not fall to the bottom are then repelled by the hydrophobic separator cartridges.
For heavy particulate loading, a strainer placed upstream of the separator is recommended.
